FREDDY 400 plus Print

Speed - Safety - Stonefree

Highly Efficient and Safe to Use in Urology, Gynaecology and Gastroenterology

The FREDDY 400 plus lithotripsy laser is the new standard for effective, safe and fast stone therapy. Using specialised, state of the art technology, this device guarantees tissue-protective treatment of even the hardest bladder, kidney or bile duct stones, in a faster and more cost-effective way than any other stone therapy currently available.

The innovative Antiperforation Mode avoids the coagulation or perforation of surrounding tissue. In contrast to traditional laser lithotripters, for example based on Ho:YAG lasers, FREDDY 400 plus only affects solid material. This extraordinary safety feature results in shorter treatment and recovery times for the patient, as virtually no collateral damage can occur.

The energy of the FREDDY 400 plus is transmitted by highly flexible fibre probes, fragmenting stones by a sequence of shockwaves. The extraordinary Dual Pulse of the device (see diagram) consists of a major infrared pulse with wavelength of 1.064 nm, along with a 532 nm green energy pulse which is highly absorbed by the stone material.

During treatment, a high energy plasma beam is created between the fibre tip and the stone, which is converted into a mechanical shockwave during contact with solid stone material. This effect is athermal and therefore guarantees the protection of soft tissue even on direct contact with the fibre probe.

Recommended Indications

  • Laser-assisted stone therapy e.g. in kidney, ureter, bladder or bile duct.

Main Advantages

  • Extremely effective
Fragments even the hardest stone material, while softer stones can be selectively precision treated
  • Extremely safe
The laser's Antiperforation Mode avoids any unintentional coagulation or perforation of soft tissue
  • Extremely versatile - within its discipline
This laser can only destroy stones - but does this remarkably well and without the many possible complications seen, for example, with Ho:YAG lithotripters
  • Extremely flexible
The special fibre probes are optimised for use in combination with flexible Ureterenoscopes (URS) and can be applied in both ureter and kidney
  • Easy to use
The device is preconfigured and ready to use immediately after being switched on

Particularly interesting for the Disciplines

  • Urology
  • Gastroenterology

Energy-diagram

  • The energy of FREDDY 400 plus is being emitted within an ultra-short interval with two wavelengths at the same time. Thermal effects on surrounding tissue or instruments are avoided by this, just like related risks and problems seen with Holmium laser lithotripters.
